As if...fantasy was reality

In this project I've been working with playing as a method. This was done to let go of the control and to let the intuition and fantasy get a greater influence in my work. During this period I played with anything that I felt like and my fantasy decided the next step.

After these sessions I went back to my role as a designer to detect potential products.

The result of this process and method was a scenario where the environment, objects and products worked together and formed a whole experience. It became a world that describes how I view the things around us and how the fantasy influences my daily approach to things. For me the things are alive and communicate just as we humans do. The project is scenography, scenery, design and installation at the same time.

The recent products that I've done is also members of my"Alice in Wonderland world". This is a way for me to work with products as well as exhibitions with my designs. The process and the method has been very important so I decided to do a book about this project.

The installation consists of a lot of objects and products:

  • Cup-on a hook-lamp - a coffecup has become a lamp and has jumped up on a hook.
  • Plates have juumped down from the cupboards to form a seat on a chair.
  • Wall cupboard - a cupboard which hides extensible part. The handle can also function as a space for very small books.
  • Cupboard lamp - Looks like an ordinary cupboard but when you open it a lamp is lit and a piece of creased paper appears. When you close the door the lamp turns of.
  • "Vira" - A lamp made of glas looking like a spool. The cord is kept around the shape and you can roll out the length of the cord as you want. The cord which is lit from the inside also works as decoration.
